Gloucester made it six wins from six in the European Challenge Cup as rock-bottom Brive became their latest victims in Pool 5.

The Premiership side were already assured of a quarter-final spot and now look set to be top seeds for the knockout stages after prevailing 31-20 on Thursday.

It was not nearly as convincing as the 55-0 victory Gloucester achieved over the French outfit on home soil in the opening match back in October, but still it underlined their dominance of the group.

Tom Savage, Dan Robson and Matt Kvesic crossed the line for the English side, with Thomas Acquier responding for Brive and a penalty try apiece accounting for the remainder of the five-pointers.

Wales back James Hook added nine with the boot for the visitors.

In Thursday's other match, Oyonnax kept alive their hopes of qualifying as one of the three best runners-up as they overcame Zebre 20-3.

That ended Zebre's hopes of finishing second in the pool, with Oyonnax having now done the double over them.
