The ACT Brumbies have begun rebuilding for the 2012 Super Rugby season by poaching giant outside back Joseph Tomane from rugby league.
Tomane, who plays for the Gold Coast Titans in the NRL has signed a two-year deal with the Brumbies
The 21-year-old has experience in the 15-man game, having played rugby in high school and coming through the junior ranks with the likes of James O'Connor and Matt Toomua.
Tomane has struggled to nail down a permanent spot at the Titans and with the club already recruiting centres Jamal Idris and Beau Champion for next season, opportunities for first-team football would have been limited.
The former Melbourne Storm star said he was excited about a fresh start and playing under the Brumbies' World Cup-winning coach Jake White.
"I'm coming across for the challenge really, to be playing Super Rugby and to be coached by Jake White and the rest of the coaching staff is really exciting for me," Tomane said.
"My first priority is to secure a spot in the starting XV – that's where my head will be when I get down there and start training with the Brumbies."
"Hopefully I can extend my rugby career further than the next two years and ultimately I'd love to represent the Wallabies, but I think that's looking at the bigger picture."
"I've got plenty of experience playing rugby and only started playing rugby league once I'd left school so I'm confident I'll be able to pick up where I left off without too many troubles."
