Queensland Reds youngster Liam Gill has signed a new contract with the club that will see him stay at the Super Rugby Champions until the end of 2013.
The 19-year-old openside flanker, who had a breakout season with the Reds in 2011 that included a man-of-the-match performance in the final regular season game of the year against the Chiefs, will now remain in Queensland for the next two seasons.
Reds coach Ewen McKenzie was pleased to lock away the highly promising Gill.
"There's no denying Liam is one of the most highly touted young talents in Rugby at the moment and we're confident the environment at the Reds is the best place for him to continue to maximise his playing potential," McKenzie said.
"He has a big future ahead of him and to see him already offer so much on the playing field at such a young age is exciting for the team and our fans."
Gill, who was born in Victoria but signed on a professional contract as a 17-year-old, was happy with the start of his Super Rugby career and is confident of becoming a regular member of the Reds in the coming seasons.
"2011 has been a dream year for me and I'm really excited about next season and the challenges that lie ahead," Gill said.
"I've got big aspirations for the future and I believe being at the Queensland Reds is the best place to achieve my goals."
