Tonya Carpenter, who suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck in the face by a broken bat at Fenway Park, was released from the hospital on Friday.

"Ms. Carpenter's recovery so far has been excellent," neurosurgeon Dr. Efstathios Papavassiliou said, via MLB.com. "She's getting stronger every day, and we've seen tremendous progress. We're confident she's ready to move forward with the next phase of her care."

Carpenter was transferred to a rehabilitation center, where she will continue her recovery.

Carpenter was sitting near the dugout on the third-base side when she was struck by the barrel of a bat, which came from Athletics infielder Brett Lawrie's groundout during the second inning. She was immediately rushed to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center last Friday, where she remained for a week.
