Attempting to catch up to the pack on the descent, the Frenchman had to put on the breaks and swerve as a herd of cows started crossing the narrow mountain road.
"I know the descent well. It was on my training roads," he said after the race."Even when I saw the cow on the road, I stared at her in the eyes and I rode past on the left.”
