After all the clips you see of it happening, you’d think athletes would just wait until crossing the finish line to celebrate.

However, no one told American 10,000-metre runner Molly Huddle after she celebrated her Bronze medal finish at the 2015 World Athletics Championships in Beijing.

The problem was that Huddle actually got pipped on the line by fellow country-woman Emily Infeld, who became the first non-African-born runner to claim a place in the 10,000-metre race in eight years.

Infeld, speaking to Universal Sports after the race acknowledged that she did feel a little guilty for claiming the Bronze.

“I feel like Molly let up a little,” Infeld said.

“I don’t think she realised how close I was. I was just trying to run through the line. I’m really thrilled.”
