October's first weekend mix martial arts is highlighted by UFC 192 from the Toyota Center in Houston.

The main event features Daniel Cormier defending his UFC light heavyweight title against Alexander Gustafsson. In the co-feature, former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans will square off with perennial contender Ryan Bader.

Also: Julianna Pena vs. Jessica Eye in a women's bantamweight bout; and Ali Bagautinov vs. Joseph Benavidez in a matchup of former flyweight title challengers. Pena tries to get one step closer to a fight with Ronda Rousey.

The five biggest reasons to watch UFC 192:

1. The Jon Jones effect

Jones on Tuesday agreed to a plea deal in connection with a hit-and-run traffic accident in New Mexico last April. His sentence includes 18 months of supervised probation.

Talk this week focused on when the former light heavyweight champion would return. Cormier and Gustafsson downplayed the chatter.

"Bones" defeated both fighters and has a rivalry with each of them. Jones casts a huge shadow over this fight; the man who can maintain supreme focus on the bout, rather than on extracting revenge against Jones, will win.

2. Will we see the old "Suga"?

Evans returns after nearly a two-year layoff from two ACL surgeries. The looming question: What Evans will we get?

Will we see the "Suga" who mauled Chael Sonnen at UFC 167, or the slow, plodding one who lost to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 156?

3. Can Ryan Bader win the big one?

Every time he gets into a big fight, Bader fails to deliver. He lost to Jones, Tito Ortiz, Lyoto Machida and Glover Teixeira.

"Darth" gets another shot against Evans. He won his past four fights and is catching Evans at the right time. Fans aren't giving Bader, 32, too much of a chance to win. He can silence those doubters and inch closer to a shot at the light heavyweight title.

4. A fresh contender for Ronda Rousey

When Miesha Tate was passed over for a title shot against Rousey, it was made clear the UFC was seeking new challengers.

Pena and Rousey have a history. The champion was a coach and Pena was a member of Team Tate during the 18th season of "The Ultimate Fighter."

Pena defended Tate at every turn and created tension with Rousey. "The Venezuelan Vixen" is 12th in the UFC rankings; a win over No. 6 Eye would vault Pena into consideration for a title shot.

5. We'll see the best flyweight not named Demetrious Johnson

If it weren't for Johnson, Benavidez would be the flyweight champion and riding an 11-fight winning streak. Instead, Johnson is champ and Benavidez is on the outside looking in.

Benavidez has beaten just about every top fighter at 125 pounds, but a third fight with Johnson seems unlikely considering what happened to Tate. It's hard to figure out what a win over Bagautinov does for the No. 1-ranked flyweight.
