Ronda Rousey vs. Bethe Correia

MORE: Ronda Rousey's next fight could be on McGregor-Aldo card | Rousey claims dominant victory at UFC 190

At Sunday's (AEST) UFC 190, Ronda Rousey defeated Bethe Correia by knockout in just 34 seconds to retain the women's bantamweight championship.

Rousey said she was going to make Correia suffer and extend the fight. Well, she extended it by 20 seconds after she defeated Cat Zingano in 14 seconds at UFC 184 in February. "Rowdy" went in there and beat Correia at her own game. She stood and traded with "Pitbull". A straight right hand to the temple face planted Correia and the champion added a short left to boot before the Brazilian crashed to the mat.

Rousey is now 12-0 and won all of them by stoppage.

After the Zingano fight, people were quick to say Rousey was pound-for-pound the best fighter on the planet. You are thinking "OK, that was great, she's a woman, but let's see it again." The buzz heading into Sunday's (AEST) UFC 190 was whether Rousey can finish the fight quicker than the Zingano fight and how long it would take to finish Correia.

Rousey didn't finish the fight quicker, but she proved something the naysayers have to finally admit.

Best in the world. @RondaRousey atta girl.

Her last three fights have lasted 64 seconds. Yes, 64 seconds. In her six UFC fights, Rousey only has been in The Octagon for a total of 17 minutes and 57 seconds. Of Rousey's 12 career wins, 11 of them have been in the first round. No current MMA fighter in any organisation is doing what Rousey is doing.

You still will have critics that say she's a woman and the competition is inferior. Look at what former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, current flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson and featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo are doing. They are going out there and defending their titles in dominant fashion against the top competitors in their respective weight class.

While some of those aspects hold water, it isn't Rousey's fault that there's no woman who can her match her skill set. The UFC has brought in the top women's bantamweights in the world to compete against her, and Rousey is making them look like novices.

Some say Ronda Rousey is overrated. This is categorically inaccurate. Overrated implies that she is not as good as the public makes her out to be. She is an Olympic bronze medalist and has starched all 12 of her opponents in ruthless fashion. If anything, she is accurately rated. She is touted as the best in the world at what she does and she is just that.

It's possible that people fail to buy into the hype considering the level of her competition is not equal, but that is not the fault of the competition. Rousey is just that much better.

The last UFC fighter to reach the level of mainstream popularity as Rousey was Chuck Liddell, the UFC's first true "posterboy." But even during the height of his popularity in the mid-aughts, Liddell was not fighting the greatest wealth of competition. Tito Ortiz, his main rival, was good but not great, akin to Miesha Tate. Liddell fought Vernon White, Renato Sobral and Jeremy Horn, three good but certainly not great light heavyweights.

Stop making it about the competition and look at what the fighter is doing to the competition.

MMA isn't something where you get paid by the hour. No one wants to see fighters stand inside the cage, be technical for three to five rounds and either win by a late stoppage or a decision. Fans want to see quick finishes and that's what Rousey delivers each and every time she steps inside the octagon. Add in the fact she is the biggest mainstream star in the sport which puts more eyes on her fights and for people to see how great of a fighter she really is.

The fact she now has improved her boxing to go with her Olympic judo puts her in a class all by herself and now possesses a complete mixed martial game. Who is going to beat Rousey or at least make her look human?

Ladies and gentleman, the best fighter in all of MMA is a woman.

Her name is Ronda Rousey. Deal with it.
