Asafa Powell set the fastest 100m time of the year in his victory at the Jamaica International Invitational.

Powell, who served a doping ban last year, clocked 9.84 seconds at the meet in Kingston, beating American Ryan Bailey (9.93) and Jamaican compatriot Nesta Carter (9.98) to the line.

Bailey and Carter joined Powell in becoming the first three men to break the 10-second mark in 2015.

The former world record holder was suspended from competition last April after he tested positive for prohibited stimulant oxilofrine at the Jamaican national championships in 2013.

Powell protested that he had not knowingly taken oxilofrine, claiming that the result came as a consequence of him ingesting a contaminated legal substance.

His ban was reduced from 18 months to six in July 2014.
