"Nick Diaz doesn't exactly play by the rules" - Dana White

More: Ronda Rousey makes X-Rated slip-up

Diaz was whacked with a five year suspension and $150,000 fine by the Nevada State Athletic Commission after testing positive for marijuana.

The punishment has been widely criticised in UFC circles with Ronda Rousey and Joe Rogan both slamming the decision.

A petition was even lodged to WhiteHouse.gov on Diaz’s behalf, but White, who was in Sydney for a promotional event ahead of UFC 193, was keeping a level head about the issue.

“I’ve been a very reactionary person in the past, but I’m a little older and a little wiser now,” he said when asked about the ban.

“I like to know all the facts. But I don’t know all the facts.

“You hear it, and it’s so jarring when you hear that he was suspended for five years and given a $150,000 fine for marijuana so you can completely take that out of context.

“This is his third offence and let’s be honest here, Nick Diaz doesn’t exactly play by the rules.

“Everybody would love to hang out, smoke weed all day and not play by the rules, it sounds awesome.

“It sounds like a great thing to do. But in reality you can’t do that.

“Especially when you’re dealing with the government. And you know, He didn’t pay his taxes for a long time, but I promise you, you will hear from me soon about the Nick Diaz situation.”
