After weeks of speculation and waiting, the world finally will get to see one of the most anticipated fights in boxing history.

Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao have finally signed a lucrative contract sealing the terms of the bout, which will take place on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

According to ESPN, Mayweather's signing of the contract gave him the right to announce the fight.

However, he was obligated to notify Top Rank of when he would make the announcement.

An hour after he told the organisation on Friday, he let the world know via his Shots account.

The two fighters have gone back and forth with negotiations, with Mayweather dancing around questions related to the fight and Pacquiao wanting a $5 million fine for a positive drug test.

The fight is expected to be the highest-grossing match ever.

Mayweather is expected to get 60 percent of the purse at $120 million, while Pacquiao will earn $80 million with 40 percent.
