Hard-as-nails Penne has face re-arranged

Penne came up against defending champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC Fight Night 69 in Berlin, and was immediately put to the test.

While Jedrzejczyk was heavily backed to take the fight, Penne showed staunch resilience, making Joanna earn her victory in the Strawweight bout.

But the talking point of the fight wasn’t so much the result, but rather the brutality of the fight, and Penne’s bloodied and battered face when referee Marc Goddard put a stop to the fight midway through the third round.

Penne took some punishment alright, with many fans bemused that the fight had not been stopped earlier.

Jedrzejczyk split Penne across the nose, with blood pouring from the cut and from her nasal passage for much for the third round.

It was an entertaining main event, and although one-sided, Penne didn’t lose any friends with her effort in the octagon.
