Both Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao "officially" arrived in Las Vegas on Tuesday and did so in completely different fashion.

While Mayweather made a "grand entrance", Pacquiao held a low-key media event at the Mandalay Bay ahead of Saturday's much-anticipated fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The fight sold out in minutes, the pay-per-view is expected to gross record revenue and Vegas hotels are filling up, even with escalated rates.

Pacquiao was originally going to be the first to arrive at the Garden Arena, but promoter Bob Arum said, via Yahoo Sports, his fighter preferred a "more comfortable atmosphere".

Tuesday's arrivals were more for the fans with both events, held hours apart, open to the public.

Mayweather made his grand entrance Tuesday with all the pomp and circumstance you would expect from the flamboyant boxer who needs no excuse to flaunt his fortune.

Mayweather, the WBC and WBA welterweight champion, is the favourite and enters Saturday's fight with a ton of confidence.

At a media event attended by about 200 fans, WBO welterweight champ Pacquiao said Saturday's fight was "for boxing fans" and that the fight was personal to him.

When told that Mayweather was selling T-shirts of himself with the Filipino flag in the background, Pacquiao quipped: "That's good. He wants to join our team – The Manny Team."
