Conor McGregor rips into Aldo

Aldo withdrew from what was going to be one of the UFC’s biggest ever fights after injuring his ribs in training.

That excuse doesn’t fly for McGregor, who says Aldo has been afraid since the day the fight was made.

“I've been contemplating it since long before the rib injury. As soon as the fight was announced, I've been contemplating it,” McGregor said on a media call on Wednesday.

“The eyes never lie, and any time I looked into that man's eyes, I saw fear, I saw glass.

“I anticipated that he would not show up, and when he got his opportunity to pull, he pulled. It's something I expected.

“I don’t blame the man.

“I was going to f**king butcher him. Rip him limb from limb. I probably wouldn’t want to face that either. It is what it is.”

Aldo, who is the only featherweight champion the UFC has ever had, is ranked as the No. 1 pound for pound fighter in the business (Ronda Rousey is ranked fourth), but McGregor doesn’t think he’ll be around for much longer.

McGregor will fight American Chad Mendes next weekend and when asked whether he’d still be interested in taking on Aldo, the Irishman said: “One-hundred percent, if he mans up we should get it on, but I don’t know if he’ll be back.

“He’s gone running, and I don’t know if he’ll be back.

“He’s pussied out time and time again, and the medical reports state he’s fit to fight.

“There’s no more questions, if you’re fit to fight, you should fight. And this (fight with Mendes) is for the real featherweight belt.”
