Chris Froome determined to retain Tour de France title

Chris Froome

The 28-year-old Brit sent another statement of intent to his rivals when he won the Tour of Oman for a second consecutive year.

Froome's finest hour came last July, when he was crowned Tour de France champion for the first time.

And the Team Sky rider wants more of the same when he defends his title in this year's race - which starts in Leeds on July 5.

He said: "It's not too hard to find the motivation (to win the Tour de France again).

"It was an unreal experience last year, so it's only natural that I want to go back and do it again, it was enjoyable, as a team you come away with a huge sense of achievement having won the Tour itself, definitely not lacking in motivation there.

"If I am able to keep that Tour de France title, to win a second consecutive Tour de France, that would mean the world to me.

"It's been one thing winning the Tour de France, but I think very few people have been able to go back and defend that title and do it a second time, so that for me is the big goal at the moment and it would be unreal if I am able to do it."
