Wiggins placed inside the top 10 in Sunday's Paris-Roubaix, finishing ninth behind winner Niki Terpstra of Omega Pharma-Quick Step.British Cycling's technical director Shane Sutton claimed he was unsure whether Wiggins would make the cut for Team Sky for the Tour de France.

And the four-time Olympic gold medallist is now uncertain whether he will get the opportunity to race for his second Tour title alongside compatriot and defending champion Chris Froome.

"It's not as simple as saying 'you've won the Tour so you're an automatic on the start sheet'," Wiggins said.

The 33-year-old Briton added: "(Froome) will have a big say in who he puts around him and who he wants in front of him in the mountains.

"My job is to go to (next month's Tour of) California, get the result I want there, put in a good performance in the (Criterium du) Dauphine and warrant a Tour place."

Wiggins had an injury-plagued 2013, when he pulled out of the Giro d'Italia because of illness and missed defending his crown in France with a knee injury.

Froome is almost guaranteed to be Team Sky's leader on July 5 but whether Belgium-born Wiggins has a spot on the start line, is yet to be revealed.
