Australian boxer Anthony Mundine has confirmed he will fight American great 'Sugar' Shane Mosley in Sydney in October.

It was reported last month that Mosley would likely be Mundine's next opponent, in what will be the Australian's first fight since dropping a unanimous decision to compatriot Daniel Geale in an IBF middleweight title fight in January.

"The wait is finally over," Mundine wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.

"I will be fighting Sugar Shane Mosley at 154p (junior middleweight). Lets go! Sugar Shane Mosley Signed & Deal DONE! More details to follow.

"This is goin to be huge and a defining moment. I feel blessed."

Mosley, 41, was one of the finest fighters of his generation, posting wins over Oscar de la Hoya, Fernando Vargas and Antonio Margarito, while suffering points defeats in recent years to fighters like Floyd Mayweather Jr, Manny Pacquiao and Saul Alvarez.

He last fought in Cancun, Mexico, where he beat Pablo Cesar Cano in May.

Mundine, 38, holds a 44-5 (26 knockouts) record, while Mosley's ledger sits at 47-8-1 (39 KOs).
