The Kookaburras have sent an ominous warning to the rest of their competitors at the World Cup with a record-breaking 12-0 demolition of South Africa in New Delhi on Thursday night.
After losing their opening group game, the Aussies bounced back to beat hosts India and continued their fine form to record the biggest winning margin in World Cup history.
Defender Luke Doerner bagged five of the goals, four of which came from penalty corners.
With Jamie Dwyer and Simon Orchard patrolling the midfield, the Kookaburras found goals easy to come by.
After Doerner opened the scoring, Glenn Turner and Des Abbott got on the scoresheet before Doerner added a second and Fergus Kavanagh scored to give the Aussies a 5-0 half-time lead.
Youngster Matthew Butturini, another from Doerner, a brace from Dwyer and another Turner goal put the Kookaburras into double figures.
Doerner then rounded off the scoring with the last two goals to give Australia the record-breaking result.
The Kookaburras are next in action against Spain on Saturday.
