Hatton coy on comeback

Hatton coy on comeback

09/03/2010 08:28:20 AM

Popular English boxer Ricky Hatton has decided to hang up his gloves, but he hasn't completely ruled out a comeback.

Hatton has been inactive since being knocked out in two rounds by Filipino sensation Manny Pacquiao in May 2009.

He said that although he tried to resume training earlier this year, his heart simply wasn't in it any more.

"I announced I was going to make a comeback and I came back off holiday and went into a training camp for three or four weeks, but it just wasn't the same," he told BBC Radio Manchester.

"You can never say never, but if I was to put my last pound on it I would say 'no, I think that's me done'."

"I've renewed my licence just in case one day I do wake up and think 'come on let's give it another go'."

Hatton, 31, retires with 45 wins and only two defeats, against Pacquiao and US great Floyd Mayweather Jr.
