Bruins down Predators

Bruins down Predators

02/12/2012 06:22:48 AM

The Boston Bruins came from behind to register a 4-3 shootout victory over the Nashville Predators in NHL action.

Coming off a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of the Buffalo Sabres in their last match, the Bruins looked to be on their way to a second consecutive loss when they trailed 3-2 late in the third period.

But Milan Lucic scored a power-play goal with 67 seconds left in regulation to tie proceedings, before Tyler Seguin and Patrice Bergeron hit the target in a shootout to clinch the win.

The victory keeps the Bruins in second place in the Eastern Conference, five points behind leaders the New York Rangers.

Ryan Callahan was the star for the Rangers as he scored three goals to lead his side to a 5-2 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers.

It was the Rangers seventh consecutive victory over the Flyers as Marian Gaborik and Artem Anisimov also got on the scoresheet.

In other matches, the Columbus Blue Jackets overpowered the Minnesota Wild 3-1, the New York Islanders beat the Kings 2-1, the Phoenix Coyotes downed the Chicago Blackhawks 3-0, the Montreal Canadiens thrashed the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-0, the Tampa Bay Lightning edged past the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 and the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Winnipeg Jets 8-5.

The St Louis Blues beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 in overtime, the Edmonton Oilers also needed an extra period to get past the Ottawa Senators 4-3, the Florida Panthers defeated the New Jersey Devils 3-1 and the Calgary Flames registered a 3-2 shootout victory over the Vancouver Canucks.
