midfield and created a lot for the home side going forward.

10. Archie Thompson - 2 - A tragic night for Thompson as he will miss the next 6-12 months after rupturing his ACL in just the 10th minute.

11. Marvin Angulo - 5 - Worked hard but simply did not create enough in terms of goal scoring chances after replacing Thompson. He then missed a penalty in the shootout.

12. Rody Vargas - 6 - Vargas was his typical dependable self in defence while he bobbed up on a couple of occasions to threaten the goals

16. Carlos Hernandez - 7 - When he was good, he was very good, but when he wasn't he was completely absent. He struggled to contribute consistently over the 90 minutes and then went completely out of it after that point due to leg weariness.

19. Evan Berger - 4 – Didn't provide the impact Melbourne would have hoped for off the bench

21. Robbie Kruse - 5- Good in the first half but after copping plenty of treatment, went out of the game the longer it went

22. Nick Ward - 5 - Was dogged by poor touch all night as he battled to have an influence. Replaced on 76 minutes.

23. Adrian Leijer - 7 - Scored the goal which got the game to extra time. It was an excellent header. Did his job in defence, without setting the world on fire.

25. Aziz Behich - 5 - Could have won Melbourne the game in the dying minutes of normal time, but spoilt and excellent chance. Had some impact off the bench, but not a lot.

I was at the final game and I also went to the last game against Sydney in Sydney. I must say congratulations to all the players, our players and Sydney players alike. The games were great, the atmosphere was great, the passion, the nerves, the fouls, etc were all part of final games. Excellent, and I must say that regardless of any knockers I am looking forward to the next season when we will have hopefully another Melbourne team that can learn from teh Victory family atmosphere, were there is RESPECT for women and children who come to the game, where we Victory passionate supporters can show the rest of Australia and the new Melbourne team how to behave. For those who missed it, even the POLICE congratulated the public for being so well behave. I can't wait for the next season to start and let's hope that FFA can do something about starting the A League earlier so we do not have such a punishing schedule next year. It is not fair on the players and it is not consistent with trying
