Neil Taylor's late own goal saw Chelsea snatch a point in an entertaining 1-1 draw at Swansea City on Tuesday.
Former Chelsea attacker Scott Sinclair delighted the Liberty Stadium crowd with his goal five minutes before half-time and it looked like his effort would be enough to give Brendan Rodgers' side all three points.
But a 10-man Chelsea outfit equalised in the third minute of injury time as Taylor turned Jose Bosingwa's cross into the back of his own net.
With John Terry injured, Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas was expected to hand former Bolton man Gary Cahill – who joined the club for seven million pounds in the January transfer window – his full debut.
But he favoured Serbian centre-back Branislav Ivanovic to partner David Luiz in the heart of defence and the former made a bright start, putting enough pressure on Swansea's Danny Graham to ensure he missed an early chance.
Daniel Sturridge fired wide for the visitors but Swansea continued to impress as Graham had a shot cleared off the line in a move that saw Petr Cech make two smart saves.
Nathan Dyer produced a tame effort straight at Cech from distance but Swansea got the goal their first-half performance deserved when Ivanovic's weak header from a Gylfi Sigurdsson free-kick looped up for Sinclair.
The 22-year-old hooked a left-foot shot over his shoulder and into the back of the net with an effort that sent the home fans wild, although Sinclair did not celebrate against his former club as a mark of respect.
Chelsea looked sharper in the second half but they still struggled to create chances, with Ashley Williams and Steven Caulker doing a fine job at the heart of defence for the Welsh outfit.
Michael Essien was introduced with 25 minutes left and nearly scored with a well-hit volley, while a Raul Meireles strike took a deflection before being gathered by Swansea goalkeeper Michel Vorm.
Bosingwa was becoming a regular threat for Chelsea and after a mazy run he found Sturridge, who could only toe-poke his effort agonisingly past the post, before the former fired over the bar.
An equaliser looked more and more likely and although Ashley Cole was given his second yellow card with four minutes remaining for a late lunge, Chelsea kept up their attacks.
And they were rewarded when the impressive Bosingwa saw his cross take a deflection off the hapless Taylor and hit the back of the net.
