Veteran Dallas guard Jason Kidd posted his first triple-double since returning to the Mavericks as they extended their winning run to six games with a 111-103 overtime win at the Atlanta Hawks.

Kidd contributed 19 points, 17 assists and 16 rebounds for the 104th triple-double - the third most in the NBA - of his career, while Dirk Nowitzki led all scorers with 37 points.

The Los Angeles Lakers shut down the Philadelphia 76ers late on to clinch a 99-90 home win.

The visitors could muster just a single field goal in the final 3:40 as Spanish centre Pau Gasol led the Lakers with 23 points and 11 assists.

The Sacramento Kings claimed an upset win at home to the Utah Jazz 103-99.

Beno Udrih hit 25 points as the Kings won for just the fifth time in 28 games, while also snapping the Jazz's seven-game winning run on the road.

Chauncey Billups scored 25 points as the Denver Nuggets ended a seven-game losing streak against the Detroit Pistons 107-102 in the mile-high city.

A career-high 30 points from Robin Lopez helped the Phoenix Suns to a fifth straight win 125-112 at home to the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Chicago Bulls continued their impressive form since the All-Star break with a 115-111 overtime win over the Portland Trail Blazers. Derrick Rose top-scored with 33 points as the surging Bulls won for the sixth time in seven games since the mid-season break.

There were also overtime wins for the Cleveland Cavaliers, who beat the Toronto Raptors 126-118, and the New York Knicks who edged the Washington Wizards 118-116 thanks to a David Lee lay-up with 2.6seconds remaining.

Russell Westbrook equalled his own franchise record of 15 assists in the Oklahoma City Thunder's 109-92 rout of the Minnesota Timberwolves while David West hit 40 points as the New Orleans Hornets rallied to beat the Orlando Magic 100-93.

New Houston Rockets signing Kevin Martin scored 33 points in a 109-105 win over the San Antonio Spurs while the Charlotte Bobcats ended their four-game road trip with a 93-89 victory at Memphis.
