Richard Douglas has received the Malcolm Blight Medal as Adelaide's best and fairest.

Douglas polled 35 votes to finish five clear of runner-up Scott Thompson (30 votes).

Michael Doughty finished third on 27, ahead of Brent Reilly (26), Graham Johncock (25) and Kurt Tippett (24).

The top 10 was completed by Ben Rutten (23), captain Simon Goodwin (22), Scott Stevens and Nathan van Berlo (both 19).

Douglas, who was left out of Adelaide's side for the last game of 2009, polled votes in 19 of the 22 minor round games. He scored a maximum four votes in one game - round nine against the Brisbane Lions.

Wingman David Mackay was the early leader with eight votes in the first five rounds before missing the next four games through injury. But by the halfway mark of the season Douglas was in front with 19 votes, six clear of three-time winner Andrew McLeod.

Goodwin closed to within four votes after round 16 - before injury finished his season. Thompson, Johncock, Reilly and Doughty all polled strongly in the second half of the season but Douglas sealed the win by polling three, one and three votes in the last three rounds.

Douglas, 23, was Adelaide's first pick at the 2005 national draft. He made his AFL debut in 2006 and has played 78 AFL games.
