In early 2007 the Belgians upset Australia 3-2 in Liege, with Rochus winning one of his two singles rubbers before Kristof Vliegen, who had earlier opened the tie by beating Hewitt, downing Chris Guccione in the decisive fifth rubber.
That defeat was compounded later that year when Australia travelled to Belgrade and was brushed aside 4-1 by Serbia to fall out of the World Group.
