Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg hold a healthy advantage at the top of the standings with five races remaining of the Formula One season, with the former leading the latter by three points after his win in Singapore on Sunday.
Rosberg's challenge at the weekend was undermined as he was forced to retire due to electronics problems.
That represented the German's second retirement of the season, while Hamilton has endured three non-finishes - something Wolff is keen to eradicate to ensure the remaining races are fought on the track.
"We don't want to have the spin that the championship was decided because one car let the driver down," he told Autosport.
"So we need to refocus, get our heads down and keep concentrating and work out what we can do to prevent DNFs [did not finishes], and reliability problems.
"We have a great reliability team. This is a group of people who are really dedicated to reliability and I am really proud of them.
"So it is even more astonishing we keep having those issues. They need to get a grip, but this takes time."
