Wolff expects double points to be dropped

Mercedes chief Wolff will have a nervy time of it in Abu Dhabi this weekend, with the German constructors' drivers Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton going head-to-head for the drivers' title.

Changes to F1 regulations at the start of the season saw double points for the final race of the calendar introduced in an attempt to combat repeats of recent seasons which have seen Sebastian Vettel romp to four straight titles.

However, Hamilton's 17-point advantage would have brought on a final-race decider in the old system regardless, and Wolff is confident the widely criticised addition to F1's complex rules will be removed for 2015.

He told Autosport: "Nobody likes the double points.

"We are going to discuss that next time around and I don't think Bernie likes it a lot. So it's probably something we should be getting rid of for next season."

Mercedes have dominated the sport in 2014 and whoever wins the drivers' title will add it to the constructors' trophy confirmed at the Russia Grand Prix last month.
