Video: Another horrific Bathurst crash

Bathurst 1000

During the Aussie Racing Cars support event on the mountain, Damien Flack was involved in a shocking crash that left his car completely dismantled.

Flack was racing down Mount Panorama’s fastest stretch of road – Conrod Straight – at speeds exceeding 250kph, when his car was clipped from behind.

This slight contact sent Flack’s car sideways, before flipping multiple times and mounting the concrete barrier on the side of the road.

The crash saw the entire body fly off the car, with just the roll-cage left as the shell of the car was revealed.

The car was briefly alight, however was quickly attended to by the safety crew.

Thankfully Flack survived the harrowing incident, as was alert and communicating with the medical team before being removed from the car.

He was airlifted to hospital to undergo a full assessment, with early indications suggesting that Flack suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung.

The crash comes just one day after defending Bathurst champion Chaz Mostert was involved in a shocking crash at the top of the mountain, which saw his car mount the concrete barrier, injuring a flag marshal and leaving the driver with a broken femur and wrist.
