Ferrari's new man Sebastian Vettel believes it may take time for the Formula One giant to challenge the likes of Mercedes for honours in 2015.

Speaking at the unveiling of Ferrari's new car on Friday, Vettel was realistic in his aims for the upcoming season.

Vettel's switch from Red Bull is just one of several changes at Ferrari this season, after the team finished down in fourth in the constructors' championship in 2014, a whopping 485 points behind leaders Mercedes.

"It's a new experience but the car looks beautiful," Vettel said. "To see how it comes together is always something special.

"I can't wait to get on the track and see how it feels.

"There's a lot of different things, a lot of new things to learn but we'll have time through testing to get into the rhythm.

"There's a lot of change going on, a lot of new people in new positions including myself so it always takes a bit of time to settle in before you make proper progress.

"But I'm confident we're going in the right direction.

"It will be difficult to be right there from the beginning but for us the main target is to work together, make progress and catch up as the season progresses.

"You have to be realistic. There's a lot of change, what's most important is us getting into the groove quickly in testing."
