Former NASCAR driver sentenced after three-state police chase

Tyler Walker

On Monday, a Utah District Court Judge sentenced former NASCAR driver Tyler Walker to 90 days in jail, a $1,665 fine and 36 months of probation in a high-speed car chase case, according to the St. George (Utah) Spectrum.

Walker was initially arrested in January 2013 after he evaded police in a high-speed chase that began in Nevada and make its way through Arizona and into Utah, where he was eventually stopped and arrested. After searching his car, police found methamphetamine, marijuana and alcohol.

"The last two weeks have given me a lot of alone time to write out a lot of goals for me without distractions," Walker said. "It has given me a clarity on my life and where I'd like for it to go. I can succeed, and I'm going to work my butt off to do everything that you ask of me. I will never be late or show any disrespect again, and I apologize for that as well."

He has been held in a correctional facility since March 16, when he was arrested on a no-bail warrant after showing up late to his previously scheduled sentencing.

Walker competed in 19 races in what is now the Xfinity Series and nine in the Camping World Truck Series. He was suspended indefinitely by NASCAR on May 18, 2007 for violation of the organization's substance abuse policy.
