Supreme Marquez cruises to pole in Argentina

Marc Marquez sealed back-to-back pole positions as he set the fastest time in qualifying for the Argentina Grand Prix on Saturday.

Having turned pole into a race win in last weekend's Grand Prix of the Americas, the Repsol Honda rider picked up where he left off in Termas de Rio Hondo as he took top spot by over half a second from Aleix Espargaro.

Marquez had played second fiddle to Suzuki's Espargaro during Friday practice, but he raised his game in qualifying to take another pole position, with Andrea Iannone of Ducati completing the front row.

The double defending world champion was supreme in the opening stage of qualifying as he recorded the quickest time of the weekend, before taking more time out of it to drop under one minute 38 seconds - the only rider to do so.

While Marquez was enjoying himself at the front, things were not so enjoyable for Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi, the Yamaha pair finishing fifth and eighth respectively.
