Stewart withdraws from Bristol

After his involvement in an incident that resulted in Kevin Ward Jr sustaining fatal injuries in a New York dirt-track race earlier in August, Stewart has kept himself out of the spotlight.

The team was quick to confirm Stewart would only miss the Bristol Motor Speedway event at this stage - albeit his third consecutive withdrawal since the incident.

Jeff Burton, who replaced Stewart on the grid at the Pure Michigan 400, will commandeer the number 14 Chevrolet in Stewart's absence.

Burton finished 37th in Michigan, while Regan Smith replaced him at the Cheez-It 355, also finishing 37th.
