Rossi leaves hospital

The six-time MotoGP champion spun off in the early stages of the race at Motorland and was carried away on a stretcher.

Rossi was then taken to hospital for scans where it was confirmed he had sustained a concussion.

Yamaha provided a further update on the Italian, with Michele Zasa, Clinica Mobile medical director, explaining that the 35-year-old had taken it upon himself to leave the facility.

"Valentino is progressing very well," he said. "In Alcaniz the CT scan was negative and although the local doctor wanted to keep him at the hospital overnight, Valentino discharged himself.

"Now he's in his motorhome relaxing, and in any case the Clinica Mobile is keeping him under observation for the whole night.

"From a neurological point of view he has fully recovered and at the moment he's fine so we'll keep on taking care of him overnight and hopefully by tomorrow morning everything is going to be ok."

Rossi tweeted a picture of himself, along with the words: "Hi guys I'm OK! (Apart from the headache)."

The 35-year-old sits third in the world championship standings with four races remaining.
