The pair have dominated the 2014 season, winning nine out of the 11 races between them.

With Mercedes almost certain to claim the constructors' championship, Rosberg and Hamilton look set to fight it out at the top of the drivers' standings.

With eight races remaining – starting in Belgium on Sunday - Rosberg holds an 11-point lead over his team-mate in the race for the world title.

Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo is a further 60 points behind Hamilton in third.

In Hungary last month, Hamilton defied team orders in refusing to let Rosberg pass him as the pair battled for second place behind Ricciardo.

With neither man willing to give an inch to the other, Rosberg revealed talks had taken place behind the scenes at Mercedes over how to proceed in the final races of the season.

"I gather it was a bit of a mess [in the media] after Hungary so it's best I don't add too much and not give too many details," he said.

"In general, we discussed it after the race because it's important to review a situation like that.

"But I've learnt various things from that race which I will try to adapt to in the future.

"I don't want to go into much detail but we sat down and discussed it all, reviewed if we needed to change something for the future and that's what we've done."
