Reynolds registered a time of one minute, 10.048 secs to start from the front of the grid alongside Nissan driver James Moffat.

Craig Lowndes, who took the championship lead from Jamie Whincup on Saturday, was third fastest, with his Holden team-mate in fourth.

Whincup will be hoping for better luck than he had on Saturday when he failed to finish and currently trails Lowndes by 36-points at the top of the standings.

James Courtney and Lee Holdsworth are on the third row of the grid, while Ford's Will Davison will start from seventh and is still a chance to push for the title.

Garth Tander, Chaz Mostert and Michael Caruso round out the top 10.

Bathurst champion Mark Winterbottom, who is third in the standings just 49 points behind Lowndes, had to settle for 11th quickest and has some work to do.

Earlier, race stewards cleared both Davison and Paul Dumbrell of any breach of rules after both made contact with competitors during yesterday's race.

Davison made contact with brother Alex Davison at turn four, while Dumbrell hit Greg Murphy at the beach chicane.

While Dumbrell was behind the wheel, given he is paired with Whincup in the Red Bull Commodore, Whincup would also have been penalised.

Sunday afternoon's 102-lap race at the Surfers Paradise street circuit begins at 1.45pm local time.
