Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo appeal tonight

MORE: Red Bull's new order: Daniel Ricciardo leaving Sebastian Vettel behind?

The FIA will meet in Paris to decide whether or not to reinstate Australian Ricciardo's second-place finish in Melbourne.

Should Red Bull win their argument, Ricciardo would move to 30 points on the drivers standings, seven ahead of world champion teammate Sebastian Vettel but 31 points behind leader Nico Rosberg.

Australian Ricciardo was stripped of second place at last month's opening race in Melbourne for what stewards claim was a breach of the 100kg fuel limit.

Red Bull insists Ricciardo's car kept to the correct fuel flow in Melbourne and will argue that the FIA-supplied gauge was faulty.

"We have got a very strong case. As more races have progressed, issues have become more evident -- and new evidence has come to light, new understandings have come to light," team boss Christian Horner told Autosport.

"So hopefully we can present our case fairly and get our second place back that Daniel deserves from Melbourne."

Ricciardo will not be in Paris for the hearing, instead the 24-year-old will prepare for this weekend's Chinese Grand Prix.

"I'll obviously wait to hear the result from the team, I'm sure they'll give me a call," Ricciardo told Crash.net.

"There's nothing that I can do, there's nothing that I can really worry about. As far as I'm concerned let's say the damage was done on Sunday night in Melbourne. I'm not going to be any more upset than I was then.

"Obviously I would love to get them back; I would be pleased but in a way I've sort of dealt with it now and whatever happens, happens."
