The Volkswagen driver only collected three points in his home rally after encountering gear-sensor problems on stage two.
Those issues saw penalties for the 30-year-old, but he was able to limit the damage with victory on Sunday's powerstage.
His poor points tally saw team-mate Jari-Matti Latvala close the gap at the top of the standings to 27 points with two races remaining, the Finn taking first place in France.
Ogier needs to score one more point than Latvala over the four days in Catalunya to guarantee a second-successive title, and he is determined to have a better weekend than last time out.
"We had a hapless time at our home rally in France," he told Crash.net. "We have a lot to atone for, so I am even more motivated to do well at the Rally Spain.
"[Co-driver] Julien [Ingrassia] and I had the opportunity to defend our title in France, but, unfortunately, it did not work out that way.
"However, I am absolutely convinced that we will defend our title in Spain.
"We won in Spain last year, and I feel fantastic. I have been doing a lot of exercise and am in top condition."
The Rally Spain is the only mixed surface rally of the season, with drivers competing over 15 stages during the four days of competition
