The Suzuki rider damaged knee ligaments following an accident near the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit, but has allayed any fears that he is a doubt for the start of the 2015 MotoGP season in March.

Espargaro clinched his first MotoGP podium finish in September expects to be back to full fitness next month.

The Spaniard confirmed to MotoGP's official website: "It's a damaged cruciate ligament in the left knee and a torn medial collateral ligament in the same knee.

"Fortunately, any need to operate was ruled out. That's the good news.

"I'm doing physiotherapy every day intensively and in a month I'll be fine."
