A NASCAR team have been forced to withdraw from this weekend's Sprint Cup Series event after their car was stolen.

Team Xtreme went to sleep inside of a Morrow, Georgia, hotel on Thursday night thinking all was well ahead of Sunday's race at Atlanta.

But upon waking up Friday morning, the team discovered its truck and a trailer carrying Sunday's car were gone.

The No. 44 car inside the trailer finished 32nd in last Sunday’s Daytona 500 driven by Reed Sorenson, but Travis Kvapil had been scheduled to race in Atlanta.

Team Xtreme owner John Cohen told NASCAR Talk the team does not have another car and will withdraw from this weekend’s event at Atlanta Motor Speedway, but will return for next week's race in Las Vegas.

According to the police report, a vehicle was caught on surveillance footage driving into the parking lot of the Drury Inn at 05:32AM local time. The white trailer and truck hauling the trailer were seen leaving the parking lot two minutes later.

The police report values the race car at $250,000, the spare engine inside the trailer at $100,000 and other equipment items at a total of $17,500.
