On December 29 last year, Schumacher hit his head on rocks while skiing near the French resort of Meribel.
He was transferred to hospital, where his condition was described as "critical" and "extremely serious".
In June, it was confirmed that Schumacher was being transferred from a hospital in Grenoble to a facility in Lausanne, and was no longer in a coma.
Three months later it was announced that the 45-year-old had returned home to continue his rehabilitation and on Monday, the anniversary of his accident, his former team Mercedes published a message of support.
"One year on, our thoughts remain with Michael, his family and friends every day #KeepFightingMichael," a tweet from their official account read.
That came on the back of further tributes from Ferrari, where the German won five of his seven world titles.
Schumacher's manager, Sabine Kehm, had earlier moved to deny claims by Philippe Streiff that Schumacher was "starting to recognise those close to him".
Streiff, an ex F1 driver left paralysed by an accident in 1989, made the claims to French media.
