McLaren frustrations return in Barcelona

Jenson Button completed just 24 laps and sat bottom of the timesheets on another day of frustration for McLaren in Formula One's pre-season testing in Barcelona.

Button spent most of Thursday in the pits after a malfunction in his power unit, and did likewise on Saturday - doubly frustrating for the Brit after seeing team-mate Fernando Alonso manage over 50 relatively trouble-free laps on Friday.

McLaren also struggled in Jerez and have only managed around half as much testing on the track as their rivals.

Pastor Maldonado set the quickest time of the second testing event so far, bolting on super soft tyres and clocking one minute 24.348 seconds.

The Venezuelan clocked up 104 laps for Lotus, one of six teams to reach three figures on Saturday.

Max Verstappen was the only other driver to utilise super softs, his best time of 1:24.739 just off Maldonado's pace, having spent most of the morning session practising pit stops.

Sebastian Vettel recovered from taking his Ferrari into the gravel on his first lap of the day to put in 105 laps, going fifth-fastest on a day of little note for the resurgent Italian constructor.

World champion Lewis Hamilton shrugged off illness and was ominously fastest of the drivers on race simulations, despite claiming to be "still feeling under the weather".
