Marquez expecting 'demanding' Argentina race

Marc Marquez is not getting carried away by his impressive Grand Prix of the Americas victory ahead of the third MotoGP meet of the season in Argentina this weekend.

The two-time world champion put a disappointing fifth-placed finish in the season-opener in Qatar behind him by claiming his third successive triumph in Austin last Sunday.

Valentino Rossi leads the standings after following up his victory in Qatar by finishing third in United States, while two second-placed finishes for Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso have ensured he sits in second spot.

Repsol Honda rider Marquez is just five points behind Movistar Yamaha's Rossi as he prepares to attempt to follow up his victory at the Termas de Rio Hondo Circuit with another success on Sunday.

But the Spaniard is not expecting to get things all his own way in the Grand Prix de la Republica Argentina given the impression his rivals have made at the start of the season.

Marquez said in his blog on the official MotoGP website: "At the moment we can't disconnect even for a minute, because this weekend we have another GP that will be as demanding as the last, if not more so.

"We've already seen that the Ducatis are putting up a good fight, that Rossi is very fast, and I don't doubt that [Jorge] Lorenzo will also move on up and fight for wins. So we have to concentrate 100 per cent."

Marquez last year became the first rider in 43 years to win the first three rounds of a season starting from pole, despite being passed by Lorenzo going into the first corner in Santiago.

Rossi finished fourth in Argentina last year, but the nine-time world champion is confident he can improve on that 12 months on.

The Italian said: "I'm happy to go to Argentina because I like the track. We hope that there will be a better condition of the tarmac compared to last year, because the track and the lay out are good.

"It's also not a bad circuit for our YZR-M1, but first we take a few days of rest and then we'll try to be focused and prepared for the race."
