Manor look set to use Ferrari's 2014 engines for the coming Formula One season after the two teams reached a verbal agreement.

The Banbury-based outfit, formerly known as Marussia, missed the last three races of the 2014 season after running into financial difficulties.

However, Manor finalised a company voluntary agreement (CVA) on Thursday, taking them a step closer to an F1 return.

And a comeback looks to have moved yet closer to becoming a reality after Ferrari team principal Maurizio Arrivabene announced the constructor had agreed a deal to supply engines for the 2015 season.

"We said to them yesterday that we are going to supply them with the 2014 engine," he is quoted as saying by Autosport. "There is nothing in writing at the moment."

Marussia finished ninth in last year's constructors' championship.
