Australian Ricciardo was the only non-Mercedes man to win a race during the 2014 season, claiming victories in Canada, Hungary and Belgium to take third spot in the drivers' standings behind champion Lewis Hamilton and the Briton's team-mate Nico Rosberg.

After the departure of Sebastian Vettel to Ferrari, Kvyat has made the move from Toro Rosso to join Ricciardo at Red Bull, as they look to challenge Mercedes' dominance in both the drivers' and constructors' championships in 2015.

And Kvyat is not concerned about any expectations upon him to emulate the results of Ricciardo.

"He proved to be a driver of an extremely high level this year," he said.

"I will be at Red Bull not to watch him do well, but to do my best and be in front of him and everybody; that's how it's going to be.

"I wouldn't go there if I was scared. I know what he can do, but I will also do my best and my best isn't that bad."

Kvyat, who earned eight points during 2014, is also relishing the prospect of stepping in to replace Vettel, who won four consecutive world titles at Red Bull between 2010 and 2013.

"Vettel had the perfect shot with Red Bull and got four titles; he did a fantastic job," said Kvyat.

"What makes me so excited about going to the team is that the history is so big in the team already.

"People outside will look at one thing and draw comparisons, but I am only looking at what makes me go faster.

"I feel absolutely ready. It's a challenge, but it's an opportunity as well."
