Kubica out of Rally Argentina

Robert Kubica will not race at the Rally Argentina as he looks to restructure his RK World Rally Team after a disappointing start to the season.

The former Formula One driver has failed to collect any World Rally Championship points this year for his newly formed team and has chosen to focus on development rather than race to Argentina.

Kubica intends to be back at the starting gate for the Rally de Portugal in late May, where he hopes to have a better set-up and more chance to be competitive.

"Unfortunately we will not start in Argentina," he said. "This has been a very difficult decision to take.

"We have always planned to compete in Rally Argentina and although part of the team, including the car, is already on site, it was necessary to skip this event.

"It is a real challenge to compete in the World Rally Championship and although I won six stages in the first three rounds, we have to be realistic and focus on improving the team in many areas.

"We plan to come back for the Rally de Portugal with a different structure, which will be systematically fine-tuned."

Amid Kubica's struggles, the championship has once again been dominated by Sebastien Ogier, with the Volkswagen driver on course for a third consecutive title.
