The Spaniard, world champion in 2010 and 2012, failed to finish the opening race of 2014 and was 10th at the Grand Prix of the Americas last time out after incurring a penalty for a jump start.

Lorenzo collected six points in Austin, but he faces a huge challenge to catch defending champion Marc Marquez, who is already 44 points ahead in the standings.

MotoGP returns to Argentina for the first time since 1999 over the coming days and Lorenzo is confident he can find form on his Movistar Yamaha bike.

"Obviously it's not the beginning of the season I had dreamed of but I'm quite confident that we can (reverse) the situation," he told the team's official website.

"It's not easy to swallow what happened at Austin but I always try to get the positive thing even if we are in trouble.

"Now I'm just thinking about Argentina and I'm really looking forward to racing as soon as possible there.

"Staying on track is the best way to forget and I think our championship is going to kick off over there."
