Horner: Vettel unconcerned by Webber replacement

Sebastian Vettel will not try and dictate the choice of Mark Webber's replacement at Red Bull, according to team principal Christian Horner.

The reigning constructors champions are searching for a candidate to take Webber's drive in 2014, after the Australian announced that he will quit Formula One at the end of the season.

Lotus driver and 2007 champion Kimi Raikkonen and Toro Rosso's Daniel Ricciardo are thought to be the leading candidates to occupy the void, while Ferrari's Fernando Alonso could provide a surprise alternative.

Three-time world champion Vettel has previously stated that he would like to be consulted but does not envisage being involved in the direct decision process.

And Horner feels that the German will be satisfied no matter who is chosen as his team-mate.

"I don't think he minds to be honest," Horner was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

"I don't think Sebastian has any concerns about going up against any driver, and he hasn't voiced a preference either way.

"He knows Kimi, he knows Daniel. Both are very quick drivers and would represent a challenge for him, but he has not looked to influence the team in any way as to which way we should be looking."

Horner also allayed any fears that having two world champions in Raikkonen and Vettel would cause tension in the team as to who would be the number one driver.

"Both drivers get the same opportunity," he continued.

"It's down to what they do on the track that determines who is the lead driver or not, and the lead driver at any given time is the one who has the most points."
