The 2008 world champion is enjoying another good Formula One season, second to German team-mate Nico Rosberg in the drivers' standings ahead of Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix.

Hamilton, 29, said he had no interest in assessing his options, instead wanting to extend his stay at Mercedes.

"I'm sure something will happen this year," he said on Thursday.

"I've made it clear to them that I'm not out to see what else there is for me. Mercedes has been my family since I started F1 and I don't see that changing any time soon."

Hamilton has been consistently good since starting in F1 in 2007, finishing in the top five in the standings in every season.

Rosberg signed a contract through until the end of 2016 in May and his countryman, world champion Sebastian Vettel, has been linked with a move to Mercedes.

Hamilton believes an all-German team is unlikely.

"Another German driver? I'm not sure if that's something Mercedes would like, but at the moment I'm here until the end of next year, so it's not going to be any time soon," he said.

"But Mercedes are the best, so everyone is going to want to drive at Mercedes."

Mercedes motorsport manager Toto Wolff said the team were in talks with Hamilton, who they want to re-sign to a "multi-year contract".

"We are already sitting together and negotiating with Lewis about a multi-year contract. Lewis is a fixed part of the team, and I would hope for a long time to come," he told Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung.
