Grosjean reveals Lotus get-out clause

Lotus have accrued a mere eight points this season - all scored by Grosjean - with Renault's struggles to adapt to new F1 engine regulations arguably hitting them hardest of any team in the paddock.

Their fortunes this season are in stark contrast to 2013 when they finished fourth in the constructors' championship with Grosjean and former team-mate Kimi Raikkonen claiming 14 podium finishes and one race win.

Having rubbed shoulders with the stars of the sport before this term, Grosjean is eager to become one of the leading lights once again.

"I have a contract with the team but I have the option to leave if I want to due to some performance clauses," Grosjean explained.

"So far, there are still places available with top teams which haven't been confirmed. That's where I want to be in the near future.

"I don't need reminding that I've only scored two times this year.

"I have to say that Lotus will be better next season than they are this year.

"The fact that the team are bringing a new nose here just to try to prepare for 2015 is a strong sign."
