Force India abandon Jerez test plans

Force India are the first team to officially pull out of Formula One's first testing event of 2015 in Jerez.

Last season's sixth-placed team in the constructors' championship had already confirmed their new model would not be ready in time until the second event in Barcelona.

Original plans were put in place to run a modified version of their 2014 car, but Force India announced on Wednesday that limited "learning opportunities" had resulted in their decision to skip the February 1-4 stage.

Teams opting to skip the first test event in favour of more time in the garage is not uncommon among midfield teams.

Force India revealed a new colour scheme for the upcoming season last week, but all eyes will be on their new machine when it is scheduled to appear at the second test in Barcelona on February 19.
